JFET Buffer Kit

JFET buffers are great to place before any “tone-sucking” pedal as well as at the beginning of your chain. A JFET buffer has a high input impedance, so it doesn’t load your guitar or bass pickups (and avoids any following pedal to do so!).

Build this simple and effective JFET buffer and get the best tone from your instrument!

Description

JFET buffers are very useful as they are easy to build and have a very high input impedance. With this kit, you can build your own JFET buffer and place it anywhere you need in your chain. It is so small you can even add it in your pedals if you want to mod them!

When do I need to use a buffer?” Adding a JFET buffer is a great choice to avoid any loading and loss of your tone. JFET buffers present a high input impedance to your guitar or bass pickups and a low output impedance, keeping your tone unaltered without modifying it. Placed after a booster, distortion or overdrive pedal, JFETs clip the sound in a very pleasant tube-like manner.

Do I need to use a buffer?” While buffers are almost mandatory before some vintage circuits that have a really low impedance and can negatively affect your tone, it’s always a good idea to place them at the beginning of your chain.

This JFET buffer circuit has be designed to work up to 18V, offering a lot of headroom.
